Janet and Peter Stephens have been breeding purebred Arabians (mostly Crabbet) since 1970. Their foundation mare was Ratina, purchased at the Gatton Sale. Some of the horses they bred, such as Torremolinos, Cedar Glen Sebastian, Andreas and Tanzania, have been very successful in Endurance.
Old and famous bloodlines like Royal Domino, Mildom, Chip Chase Desert Wind and Sindh continue on in their Stock. To breed and keep horses in a natural way has been of great importance to the Stephens family. The horses grow up in mountainous countryside with usually green and lush pasture, and many “friends” to run with.
Not only have some of their horses done well in different Equine disciplines, they also use most of their purebred Arabians for Cattle mustering on the farm.
Sabrina, Janet and Peter’s daughter in law, found a great tutor and supporter in Janet, as she is learning about the bloodlines and breeding. She also caught the endurance bug and is hoping to do well with some of their horses. Nigel, Peter and Janet’s son, a great rider himself, but too busy with the farm these days is very happy to see his mother and wife work closely together with the horses.
One of their most precious wedding gifts was Cameo Silver Bellz given by Janet and Peter.
